P&G Helps Keep Kids Safe with New Child-Guard™ Lid

For a little over a year, I have been working with P&G on their Fabric Care Advisory Board and I have to say, I am still so in awe (and grateful) of how devoted they are to keeping our children safe.  Last year they came out with a child resistant bag featuring the Child-Guard™ zipper.  Now, coming this summer – P&G will unveil their new Child-Guard™ lid on tubs of Tide PODS and Gain Flings.

The Child-Guard™ lid requires users to squeeze both sides of the lid and twist (think like a pill bottle) to open the lid.  However, to close the lid, they will simply just have to twist it on.  Genius right?  Here is a video of me opening and closing the container with the new Child-Guard™ lid:

I’ll admit it, I was a little leery at first because sometimes pill bottles are hard to open, but the new Tide Child-Guard™ lid has hit the perfect level of difficulty.  I think especially for little hands, it would be almost impossible to open and it did even take some effort on my end.  I do want to note that to close the lid you do have to have it lined up at a 90 degree angle from the closed position, but absolutely no squeezing is required!  And as you can see from the video, you definitely need to squeeze to open!

Now, while it will still always be important to keep laundry pacs up, with the container closed, and away from kids, if the tub is down or a child climbs up to grab a tub of laundry pacs (because we all know kids love to be little daredevils) – the container is even harder for them to open!

The new tubs with Child-Guard™ lids will begin to be introduced to stores this summer and will be widely available by the end of the year.

Bravo to P&G for this amazing next step in keeping our kids safe!
