Mermaid Academy Now Offered at the Brighton Rec Center

The Brighton Rec Center is offering one of the most unique classes I've ever seen and if we're being completely honest, I can not wait to get my daughter into their brand new Mermaid Academy! Yes... you read that right!  Mermaid Academy! 

The Mermaid Academy encourages mermaid enthusiasts of all ages to come together and learn how to swim safely with a mermaid tail and learn about the folklore/ mythological origins of merfolk through the ages! People have been fascinated with merfolk long before the Roman and Greek era and the Aquatics team at the Rec thought, ”Why not say yes to an activity other facilities say no to?" 

And so they are.

Education and safety is always in the forefront of the BRC Aquatics Department and it is something that they focus and train on daily. Aquatics Coordinator Angela Yazdani shares, "In a world of lots of, “No you can’t do that”, we wanted to find all the reasons to say YES to mermaids! Yes to creativity! And yes to learning something new! Plus, our swim lesson staff are excited about teaching the classes and enjoy the swim tails themselves."                    

Mermaid Academy meets every Friday for four weeks (hour and a half each time). The cost is $60 and reduced rate is not exempt and Monofins and swim tails are provided during class.
